Mogoditshane, Botswana – A new culinary destination has arrived in Mogoditshane with the opening of Box 14 Chisanyama & Lounge, located at Fourways Junction Mall next to Sefalana. The restaurant officially launches this Saturday, August 30th, 2025, with a public celebration featuring live entertainment from 16h00.
A Story Rooted in Community Heritage:
Legend has it that in years past, there existed one post box for the Mogoditshane area – P.O. Box 14 – where residents would congregate at the kgotla to collect their mail. Today, at the newly opened Box 14, people congregate once again, but this time to collect sweet sounds, chilled vibes, and exceptional chisanyama cuisine.
“We chose this location specifically to cater for people in the surrounding areas instead of always having to go into town to have fun,” says Lebogang Okoye, owner of Box 14. “What makes Box 14 different is not just the food, but the overall experience and the customer service we provide. We wanted to create a space where our community can come together right here at home.”
Box 14 is curated to offer a secure, relaxed environment where guests can enjoy cool beats and exceptional food. The restaurant specializes in simple chisanyama cuisine packed with bold flavors – featuring flavoursome meats and a selection of sides designed to be served and shared together.
The menu embodies the restaurant’s philosophy: “It’s simply ko re blomang” – a place to eat, drink, watch sports, and simply chill. The establishment operates with the hashtag #ReChillaDaar, emphasizing its commitment to providing a laid-back, enjoyable atmosphere for all patrons.
Box 14 demonstrates a strong commitment to community empowerment, employing 22 staff members who all reside in the Mogoditshane area. This initiative directly supports local youth employment while ensuring the restaurant remains deeply connected to the community it serves.
Furthermore, the restaurant sources its ingredients and fresh vegetables from local suppliers in Mogoditshane, contributing to the local economy and ensuring the freshest possible ingredients for their dishes.
